TSTC Publishing Welcomes Publishing Editor Christopher Wilson

By Laura Anderson
   May 15, 2006

As of May 1, 2006, Texas State Technical College Publishing gladly welcomed Texas native Christopher Brent Wilson as the new publishing editor. Prior to TSTC, Chris worked at the Waco Citizen newspaper as the sports editor. He initially read about the job opening on the TSTC Web site. He continues to write for the Waco Citizen and various online publications. Chris attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls and received a bachelor's degree in English. His typical day entails sitting and staring at a computer screen, but he says the best part of the job, besides his co-workers, is that he has his own bulletin board. Currently, he is editing three different dental books and a hand tools book. He stays busy, but enjoys his new workplace.

Originally from Olney, Texas, his family relocated to Waco in December of 2004. His younger sister, Cheryl, is a Baylor graduate. In March of 2003, the Wilson family faced heartbreak when Chris' father, Carroll, passed away from cancer. Six months later Chris wrote a book of humorous sports stories in memory of his late father called Sports Briefs. His funny sports columns can be found at his official Web site www.mybriefs.com.

Hands down, weekends are the highlight of the week for everyone. As for Chris, his ideal weekend includes watching TV and sleeping. Sports are a huge interest of his as well. He loves to play basketball and tennis. He loves to watch football, and he loves to write about 'any sport, as long as it's funny.'

Chris is engaged to be married July 1 to his fiancé, Piper Green, whom he met in Waco a year ago. He was interviewing her for a story, and a few months later they went out on their first date. When asked what he would do if Mark Long gave him the week off, Chris said 'spend time finding a home.'

Computer graphics specialist Katherine Wilson shares an office with Chris and said, 'We are the Wilson team' and that TSTC Publishing is lucky to him come aboard.

Christopher Wilson may be reached at christopher.wilson@tstc.edu or (254) 867-3210.
